Almost everything has gone eco-friendly these days, including the weddings. The upcoming, new wedding season, is clear about it’s pet theme- Floral Harmony & Petal Décor. The centuries old regular flowers are being replaced by the scents and colors of new seasonal flowers. For those with a more creative streak, the wedding planners are asked to include some exclusive European and English garden treats. The purple orchid, colored African Daisies, Marigold, Tulips & Daffodils are being used by real wedding parties.
Lessons for the Green Horns
You and the wedding planner will need to be knowledgeable about floral arrangements. It is a specialized art and requires training.
Please remember the following tips:
- Some flowers come with pollen and induce allergies. Ask the floral designer to use flowers will least allergens.
- Timing of the wedding decorations is extremely important with a floral theme. Whether it is for the wedding day or reception, the florist should be able to judge as to how many hours before the event can the decoration be done. Ideally, if there are flowers in bloom, make sure they blossom, matching the timing of the evening hours.
- An expert florist will choose the color schemes of flowers that match the theme of the wedding. It enhances the entire look of the wedding, if one can manage to do that.
Choosing the Florist
Before selecting the florist, ask the wedding planner to check their portfolio. It will give you an idea as to how many years they are in business or what kind of experience they have. A good florist will help you to choose a good theme according to the season. If you have a good budget, some rare varieties also can be used around the wedding venue.
The wedding decorations inside the venue and outside should differ slightly. Try to keep harsh lights away from the flowers, as they will dry due to the heat. The use of potted plants, bouquets, wreaths, corsages and other types can always be creatively handled.
The ceremony garlands (for beach themes) of the bride and groom can be designed innovatively, keeping in mind if anyone has allergies! If garlands are required for guests, then they should be different and distinct. If you have a wedding and reception in the same venue, try to change the flower décor. It gives a different look. If some flowers are expensive, use less of them, but increase the foliage (greenery) to give a full look. Make sure the décor is done ON TIME! The last thing you would want is tying up loose ends while the guests have started to come in at the venue. It is not in good taste at all.
Don’t go overboard. You are not going in for an environmentally friendly wedding. But the exotic flower power is a certain value addition to the wedding and reception. Have a green wedding!
